Pool Features
Controls brief
A pool automation system brings selected pool controls into one plan.
For a new pool, automation is specified with the selected equipment. For an existing pool, it begins with an assessment of the equipment and the scope required for compatible controls.
Discuss automation with the project
The direct answer
Automation can be considered for an existing pool after the existing system is assessed.
Wave Outdoors Pools coordinates automation and smart controls as part of pool work. On a new build, selected controls are planned with the equipment. On an existing pool, compatibility and the required scope need to be assessed before any integration is assumed.
Automation is a control layer, not a replacement for the safety plan. A compatible control center connects selected equipment so a household can set schedules and manage routines from one place; lights, heaters, pumps, and water features are common examples. It does not make equipment compatible, and it does not turn automation into a barrier, cover, alarm, or substitute for supervision.
Specify by decision
Ask the control question in sequence.
- New-pool specificationChoose compatible controls with the selected heater, lighting, water features, and other pool equipment.
- Existing-pool assessmentConfirm the current equipment, compatibility, access, and any upgrade scope before treating automation as a retrofit.
- Value and system fitA system is valuable when its compatible controls match the routines the household will actually use; no brand is universally best.
Owner routes
Cost, value, and “best system” need a scoped answer.
Automation cost and whether it is worthwhile depend on the selected scope. Shasta Pool Supply’s January 2026 market orientation says most systems cost $1,500–$3,500 for equipment, excluding installation and equipment upgrades. This is not Wave pricing or a property-specific installed total, and it does not establish this property’s installation, wiring, panel-upgrade, compatibility, or retrofit scope. Product comparison needs a selected-equipment decision rather than a universal recommendation.
